Past in a Post
Sharing the urge to experiment and discover each other's way of working, Esmée van Dinteren and I started the collaborative project Past in a Post. The one-year-long project was shaped around a typographic postcard that was sent every week to each other. A set of rules gave us the possibility to explore within a pre-defined framework.

Rules
- One person determines a word, based on an experience or feeling of that week.
- The other person determines a color, this specific color attracted attention that week.
- This data is converted by each person into a typographic design in which only letters and/or shapes are being used.
- The size of the design is 210mm x 148mm.
- The post is sent to each other each week via email.
During the year we shared our process and the posts in a weekly newsletter. Doing so, subscribers were invited to react on our posts and follow the steps we made.
The rules and methodology developed during the project turned out to be well-suited for short workshops, where participants are challenged to experiment with typography within a limited timeframe.
